Meet Our Attorneys

Senior Partner

Pete M. Wessels

Pete M. Wessels is a native of Buffalo Center, Iowa and is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa and Creighton University College of Law. He has been admitted to practice law in the States of Iowa, Illinois and Nebraska.

He is the principal in the law firm of Wessels & Wierman, P.C. and the focus of his practice since 1981 has been Estate Planning, Trust Administration, Farm Succession and Business Planning.

Pete has been an officer and on the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend, served different terms as a director of Rock Island Rotary, a member of Quad City Estate Planning Council, and a member of numerous state and local Bar Associations. In 2008 he was honored to receive the Outstanding Planned Giving Professional Award. Pete has spoken at numerous seminars for other professionals, organizations and with various groups in regard to both Estate and Business Planning matters.

David G. Wierman

David G.  Wierman was born in Peoria, Illinois, and graduated from Peoria Notre Dame High School. At the age of 17, he became an Eagle Scout. He attended the University of Iowa, obtaining his Bachelor of Arts degree in 2004.

David attended the University of South Dakota School of Law, earning his Juris Doctor in 2008. In law school, David was President of the Client Counseling and Negotiation Board and was recognized with the CALI Award for the highest grade in Elder Law. David is admitted to practice in Iowa and Illinois, as well as the United States District Court, for the Southern District of Iowa, and the United States Court of Appeals, for the Eighth Circuit. He previously worked for the Iowa Attorney General’s Office; he entered private practice in the Spring of 2010.

David joined Wessels & Wierman, P.C., in September 2011. He currently belongs to the Scott County and Rock Island County Bar Associations. David has spoken at numerous seminars and events on Farm Succession and Estate Planning matters.  David’s practice areas are Business Law, Estate Planning, Trust Administration, Elder Planning and Farm Succession Planning.

Peter H. Wessels

Peter H. Wessels grew up in Bettendorf, Iowa and graduated from Bettendorf High School. He then attended Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, where he obtained a degree in accounting and finance.

Peter received his Juris Doctor from the Charleston School of Law in Charleston, South Carolina. During law school, he was named the Vice President of the Estate Planning Society and served as an editor of the Journal of Alternative Dispute Resolution. Peter received five CALI awards at the Charleston School of Law, which are given to the student who receives the highest grade in a respective class.

Peter joined Wessels & Wierman, P.C. in 2015. He is a member of the Rock Island County Bar Association and the Young Lawyers Division of the Scott County Bar. Peter practices in the areas of Estate Planning, Trust Administration, Business Planning, Elder Planning and Farm Succession Planning.
